M198 Brings Back Good Memories
Submitted by Lt. Col. Karl Trenker

I was with I MEF Current Fires during the initial offensive into Iraq (OIF-1). I served as the current fires officer and counter-fire officer. There were some exciting moments (seersucker missile hitting near the COC, counter-fire attacks on CBR detections that yielded multiple targets, etc.) as the senior Marine command in theater. The real fighting took place in the 1st Marine Division (our major subordinate command).

Here's an illustration I drew of a Marine howitzer crew during the last big push during the Battle for Fallujah.
