Gunner's Quadrant Lighting Kit

Gunner's Quadrant Lighting Kit
Our friends at Field Artillery Journal recently reported on a product that will help cannoncockers light up their howitzers while they light up the night: the new Gunner's Quadrant Lighting Kit for M1A1 and M1A2 gunner's quadrants.

Designed for use in the 105-mm M102 and M119 howitzers, the 155-mm M198 and M777 howitzers and mortars, the kit allows soldiers to illuminate their equipment while measuring out their next night fire round. "The kit can be easily attached on the bottom of the gunner's quadrant allowing the Soldier to read the azimuth and elevation scales, micrometer and level vial in the dark" (FAJ, March/April 2006).

Key features to enhance battlefield operations include automatic power shut-off after 60 seconds to preserve battery life and a design that will not interfere with existing gunner's quadrants or carrying cases.

The kit has had successful field tests at both Fort Sill and Fort Campbell.
