PGK: Precision Guidance Kit

As evidenced in Iraq and Afghanistan, Soldiers and Marines expect accurate and responsive cannon artillery support when going into combat. The Precision Guidance Kit (PGK) is a GPS-based innovation under development by the U.S. Army to dramatically improve the effectiveness of today's cannon artillery. The PGK will provide a cost-effective method for making conventional 155-mm and 105-mm cannon projectiles into near-precision rounds that are critical in all combat environments, especially in urban conflicts where minimizing collateral damage is paramount.

An article written by MAJ John Moorhead from the Army’s TCM-C in the Jan-Feb 2007 edition of FA Journal does a great job describing the PGK program, such as how it works, how it will complement other munitions, when it will be fielded and more.
